Happy Chinese New Year!
Our family had a great day of celebrating Caroline's heritage. Her teachers at school blew me away with what all they did to make her day special. The kids made their own chinese dragons and then went on a parade around the school, with Caroline as the leader. She's talked about this for days--mostly about the leader part. We took in red envelopes and chocolate dipped fortune cookies in Chinese takeout boxes (OK, the latter is not really part of the traditional festivities but we try to work chocolate into every holiday). When we were putting the gold coins in the envelopes I asked CB if she knew what the color red meant in Chinese (thinking she might remember good look). She put her little hand out and yelled "Stop." For dinner that evening the Ridgway family joined us for a yummy meal in Altamonte Springs. The kids did great using chop sticks, not so much for the adults.
